Spruce Budworm

Spruce Budworm affecting North Shore Forests.

A native insect, Spruce Budworm, has been defoliating and killing balsam fir and spruce in the northeast Minnesota. The outbreak began in 2013. Outbreaks occur every 25 to 40 years in Minnesota.
